This year marks the 10th anniversary of the best horror convention in the southwest. I'm talking about none other than Texas Frightmare Weekend. TFW is presented in association with FANGORIA Magazine. Conceived by Loyd and Sue Cryer in 2005 as a three day horror convention, the event takes place annually in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. True to its motto, “The Southwest’s Premier Horror Convention”. Their goal is to provide fans like me with an unrivaled experience by celebrating all aspects of genre films, specially horror. Texas Frightmare Weekend hosts celebrity appearances, autograph signings, screenings, exclusive parties and horror memorabilia vendors from all over the country. The event is also extremely proud to have featured the rising talents of many Texas “Frightmakers” in screenings, panel discussions and Q & A’s.
Arguably the largest horror convention in the nation. The event thousands of attendees annually and has hosted genre legends such as Danny Trejo, George A. Romero, Clive Barker, Malcom McDowell, Robert Englund, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Cary Elwes and hundreds more. In 2012 the event moved to the Hyatt Regency inside the DFW to make room for its growing fan base. The new venue provides 93,000 square feet of event space (compared to the Grapevine Convention Center at 23,500 square feet) and 800 rooms.
Now with the BIG 10th Anniversary just around the corner TFW will not disappoint. Thousands of fans will gather around to enjoy one of the most amazing horror experiences, waiting anxiously to see either their favorite icon's of fright, enjoy a scare-tastic Friday night party or simply enjoy yet another year of fun and gather memories amongst friends here at the top 5 things to do at this Kick Ass Convention!!

(Watch out for my movie next year). Here's the list of movies that TFW will be screening for your bloody pleasure. Don't miss out on these amazing and bloody good films. PHANTASM BALL, DARK ART EXHIBIT AND THE DEAD RIGHT HORROR TRIVIA
Every year TFW is host to a Friday night party, with different yearly themes, this amazing party offers fun, celebrity guests and music. This years theme belongs to Don Coscarelli's "Phantasm" movie and it will feature music from Reggie Banister and Bill Thornbury, there will be a best phantasm theme costume and overall costume contest and a dance competition judged by Kat Lester and a FREE phantasm theme photo booth how cool is that?? In addition to the party, Theresa Jara is curating the first annual Dark Art Exhibit. She has arranged for the original Grandma from Texas Chainsaw Massacre to be on display, the exhibit will also feature original pieces by amazing horror artists like Clive Barker and Basil Gogos.
And of course don't forget to join Fangoria's Rebekah McKendry along with Rob Galluzzo and Elric Kane to test your horror knowledge in eight rounds of terrifyingly titillating trivia. Do you think you have what it takes?? Are you the ultimate horror buff??
Like any other con out there you cannot miss all the great costumes and this is not the exception. With a ton of different people representing their favorite horror icons, you can be sure you can bump into Freddy, Jason or Michael among others. I simply cannot wait to see what everyone will be bringing to the table this year and the fantastic job and effort that everyone puts into it.
The most anticipated part of a convention are always the celebrity guests and TFW provides a wide range of them. From the headliners that include in their FIRST EVER convention appearance Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich from the "Scream" and "Craft" franchise to Michael Mcdowell, Brad Dourif aka "Chucky" Angus Scrimm, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Kim Coates and Alexandra Breckenridge. Additional guests include a "Nightmare on Elm Street 2" and "Phantasm" movie reunions and other guests such as Tom Savini, Don Coscarelli, Charles Band, The Burns Twins, Sid Haig, C. Thomas Howell, Victoria Price and many many more.
Skeet Ulrich and Neve Campbell Ghost Face and his Prey Photo Op
Don't miss this once in a lifetime photo op! Join Skeet as he wears an official FunWorld costume and holds the Ghost Face Mask alongside Neve Campbell! This is a one of a kind mask and in their respective convention debut as previously mentioned, you will have the opportunity to take home a photo souvenir with the original "Scream" killer Billy Loomis (minus Stu Macher lol) and Neve aka Sidney Prescott . The "Scream" franchise has a great deal of worldwide fans and YOU can be one of the lucky one's that takes this memory home FOREVER!
For these reason's and many more including all the great vendors, the people, the over all experience and one hell of a time TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND is the place to be. The 10th anniversary will be held this upcoming May 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Dallas, Texas inside the Hyatt Regency in DFW Hotel.
