Despite rumors claiming otherwise, NBC's Constantine - based on the popular DC comic Hellblazer - has not yet been cancelled, and may in fact be renewed for a second season.

Fans of the series were bitterly disappointed to hear Constantine was in danger of being axed, when its cancellation was reported by Buzzfeed’s Kate Arthur. However, it turns out that this decision has not yet been made, and the report was premature.

Executive producer and co-creator of the show Daniel Cerone took to Twitter to clear things up:

Excellent news! Even the honorable Captain Kirk was pleased with the clarification:

The show tells the story of John Constantine:

a demon hunter and dabbling master of the occult, who must struggle with his past sins while protecting the innocent from the converging supernatural threats that constantly break through to our world due to the 'Rising Darkness'.

The first season had a pervasive creepy atmosphere that made it pretty exciting to watch, leaving enough unanswered questions to keep me interested in more. Watch this space for further updates on the show's future.
