Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling made our hearts croon out a collective 'awwwww!' in Crazy, Stupid, Love and sizzled with chemistry in 2013's Gangster Squad, and now they could be making our romantic dreams come true again!
The ridiculously photogenic pair are currently in negotiations to star in La La Land - a romantic contemporary musical by [Whiplash](movie:1075695) director, Damien Chazelle.
The only plot details we have so far come from The Wrap and reveal that La La Land will be set in Los Angeles and crammed with plenty of good old-fashion song-and-dance action. Gosling would be slipping into the role of a "cocky yet charismatic" jazz pianist named Sebastian, while Stone would take on "aspiring actress Mia, who's lonely and desperate to fit in."
Alas, it doesn't look like it will all be plain sailing for our two artistic lovers as the plot goes on to tease that:
The city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy
But why is this the first time we've heard about this casting? Well, the script was originally written with Emma Watson and Whiplash's Miles Teller in mind, but they are both now otherwise engaged in other projects.
Personally, I would much rather see Stone and Gosling in this intriguing sounding number, but the roles aren't finalized just yet. Deadline does assure us that "all sides are working to make this happen" though, so keep all of your fingers and toes crossed to ensure this comes to pass. I hear it's scientifically proven to bring results.
