It's been a slow process watching Jared Leto's transformation into the Joker for [Suicide Squad](movie:2283363), and we've been with him every step of the way.
From chopping his hair to potentially testing out that quintessential Joker voice, Leto has been keeping us fans in the loop. Last we heard from him, he posted a series of photos on Instagram with bleached hair and eyebrows.
An early descent into madness
This one post immediately caused the Internet to wonder when we would see a completed look, or at least a green dye job.
Now, thanks to a Snapchat video from Leto himself, we have the next iteration of this malevolent metamorphosis.
Here's our best look yet
Though we all assumed he'd go green, it's still extremely satisfying to see the (nearly) final product instead of relying on speculation. Judging by that almost radioactive shade of green, it looks like they're sticking really close to the conventional comic book Joker, and I'm really happy with that approach.
The brightness and style (if this is ultimately how it looks on film) also differentiates Leto's Joker from Heath Ledger's iconic performance in The Dark Knight. His grittier, realistic Joker rocked a more muted mop with messy, almost sickly tendrils creating a truly terrifying look. Leto's hair is outrageously bright, and I can't wait to see how it looks in full costume.
Sadly, the video has since been taken off of Snapchat, but someone was fast enough to snag this still. I'm hoping the next step features a glimpse of the upcoming make-up job, but we're definitely getting close to a fully realized Joker.
Keep your eyes on Leto's social media accounts, and we might just see the Clown Prince of Crime, in all his smiling glory, very soon.
