Here's another new post for another film which is a film which I class as a classic I haven't seen before. That film is The Usual Suspects which follows a group of criminals whose collaboration ended up in a boat explosion killing 27 people and this leaves the police to uncover what happened; one of the criminals Roger 'Verbal' Kint is being interrogated by the police and he tells the story of how the explosion happened and how one mythical crime lord was behind everything, Keyser Söze. The Usual Suspects is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Kevin Spacey, Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Pollak, Chazz Palminteri and Benicio Del Toro.
There are a lot of positives to this film which include: brilliant acting, superb story, excellent plot progression, great action and it is really tense and intriguing. Kevin Spacey is excellent in this film as Verbal Kint who gives memorable monologues and well remembered quotes that are such because of his outstanding performance; everyone else in the film gave good performances as well I especially liked Chazz Palminteri as the lead detective and Gabriel Byrne as Keaton. I actually knew the twist ending of this film before watching it which is annoying but the plot of this film is so good and has lots of other plot lines with a lot of intrigue that made me more than captivated in the story. There are quite a few great action set pieces in this film like obviously the gun battle around the boat and the car heist, all of the action scenes in this film were tense and exciting. I only really have one negative to this film which was that it took about 15 mins for the plot to get going and for me to get invested in the film but from then on the pace was perfect.
Overall I really liked The Usual Suspects because of its great performances and intriguing plot, so taking everything I have said into consideration I rate this film:
