So what exactly has been happening in that galaxy that's so far, far away? When we last saw our heroes (not referring to the prequels) they had defeated the Empire, or at least a portion of it, and the sith had taken a devastating blow to the face. But now they are back and in business. So what do we learn from this trailer?
Lots of explosions... which for Star Wars is par the course. I particularly am interested in the above image, as it is clearly a TIE fighter attacking a TIE fighter hangar. Can someone say, "Traitor?"
The above sequence is special because it really gives the first look at how the action will play out. Not only is the action itself incredible in this 5 second chase, but the camera work is perfect. In the middle image where the two ships are flying into the engine of the destroyed space ship the camera quickly zoomed in to get a closer look at the action. This motion made me feel like a fish being yanked out of the water by a hook. It hooked me into the action (silly pun intended). I truly believe we are going to see some masterful cinematography with Episode VII.
I don't know anything about this robot, but I like it.
Sweet duds, baby! I love the direction they are going with the costumes. The TIE fighter pilot looks rather standard with a few upgrades. The silver storm trooper is a bit curious. I wonder what his rank is. As for the sith guy... he looks sweet. I am appreciative of the mask. It is very old school, and makes me feel right at home. Speaking of home...
If the 3 second clip of Han and Chewie was all that was in this trailer I would be happy with that. This was an incredible high five to the entire planet. I love you J.J. Abrams. And finally...
The number one thing I have been curious about is what the Star Destroyers will look like. Will they still be using the Imperial class? Did the Empire have a Super tucked away in case of an emergency? Did they build new ones that might resemble the Eclipse class? Well, now we know. Sort of. It is definitely a new design, at least new to me. The short clip doesn't give any sort of definitive perspective. I would imagine it is somewhere between the Imperial and Super classes, but that is completely a guess. I really like it. It is yet another nod to the original trilogy, which is fine by me. Below I will include the rest of the stills that I pulled. I didn't pull a still from every clip because some of them would be a blurry mess. Let me know what you think of the images and my theories in the comments section... and my the force be with you.
