According to Variety the heartthrob of Hollywood, Mr. Ryan Gosling, is currently in negotiations to star in the sequel to one of the greatest science fiction movies of all time, Blade Runner!

Gosling is set to appear alongside the legendary Harrison Ford, who will reprise his iconic role as Rick Deckard from the original 1982 movie. And Ford isn't the only returning talent, with director Ridley Scott on board as executive producer.

Blade Runner 2 will reportedly take place several decades after the first movie, so Ford's age will at least make canonical sense. Additional details are thin on the ground at the moment, with the project unsurprisingly being kept under tight wraps. But fear not die-hard fans - the script's in good hands, penned by Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original) and Michael Green.

Principal photography is set to start in Summer of 2016, and will be helmed by Denis Villeneuve, the man who brought you Prisoners.

I must admit, I was initially rather skeptical about the idea of a Blade Runner sequel, considering the original stands so perfectly on its own. However, with this hugely talented cast and crew on board, my doubts may just be fading...
