Here I was worrying that the PS4 wasn't going to get any great exclusives in 2015, after the word that Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4 slipped into 2016. But then Bloodborne got its long-awaited release date and I realised that it's one of the best games I've played in a very long time! *sigh of relief* Therefore, Nathan Drake's delayed release date doesn't feel all that painful at the moment, though I do wonder why it occurred.
Naughty Dog obviously want to uphold their status as one of the greatest developers in the video game industry. Therefore, they realised that looking at Uncharted 4 as a 2015 game was going to impact upon the quality of the finished product. Naturally, we all want Drake's send off to be the best it can be. But was it Uncharted 4 A Thief's End's multiplayer or plot that caused the delay?
Uncharted 4 A Thief's End - Did Multiplayer Affect the Release Date?
As we're well aware, the glorious team that worked on the multiplayer behind the Game of the Year, [The Last of Us](movie:1190382), is returning for Uncharted 4. Therefore, we can at least expect a lot of fun to be had. But I wonder whether the ambitious nature of the title may have asked that the multiplayer team improve upon the design of the online mode.
I'm not a big fan of multiplayer, so the idea of the game being delayed for this aspect of Uncharted 4 would be a bit disappointing. But I totally get that Naughty Dog want to appeal to every gamer out there with this PS4 title, and having an awesome multiplayer option is sure to keep players involved with this game for years to come. Neil Druckmann has stated that the delay was due to the fact that Uncharted 4 was a far more ambitious title than they had anticipated. Therefore a lot more work was needed.
Have Sam Drake's Plot Improvements Delayed Uncharted 4?
Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that new plot developments arose for the team. We've seen motion capture pictures being uploaded recently, which means that the team may actually be shooting newly written sequences! We have a theory about Same Drake and his dealings with his brother for Uncharted 4, and we wonder whether his character may have become something greater than they'd anticipated.
But what do you think the reasoning behind the release date delay of Uncharted 4 is? Are both the plot and multiplayer aspects of A Thief's End getting serious improvements, or could one of them have needed a lot more work? In any case, we can't wait to play [Uncharted](movie:583414) 4 on the PS4 in 2016!
