The name [Red Dead Redemption](movie:42294) is still one that resonates throughout the industry. Its legacy permeates through every open world, and I personally feel that Rockstar have yet to match the genius of Red Dead. Therefore, I'm naturally someone that hopes that Rockstar's next adventure will be Red Dead Redemption 2, and seeing as they have no big game for 2015, this could be the year that it gets a release date.
GTA V's day in the sun has finally come to an end with the release date of its PC edition after almost 3 years, and I say 'finally' because I'm dying for Rockstar to show us what else they have in store! Could it be L.A. Noire 2, a new IP, Max Payne 4? I doubt it, cause I'm sure that after the enormous success of Red Dead Redemption in 2010, the studio already began to think of it as a franchise worth continuing.
Is Red Dead Redemption a 2015 Game?
2015 seemed like it was going to be one of the greatest years the industry has ever seen. However, we've been met with a fair few delays, and the likes of Uncharted 4, The Legend of Zelda Wii U and Quantum Break have moved on to 2016. Yet, we still have [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021), Halo 5, [Batman: Arkham Knight](tag:2683936), [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain](tag:2683985) and of course The Witcher 3 to look forward to, to name but a few.
Within the whole list of games that are due to hit shelves in 2015, The Witcher 3 seems to be the most likely candidate for Game of the Year. It just has all of the right material for it, even though I wish Bloodborne could take the spot. But to be honest, if Red Dead Redemption 2 got a release date in 2015, I don't think any other game could possibly matter to me this year.
Rockstar are renowned for being intensely private about the development of their games. Information for their titles comes out at an extraordinarily slow pace and their whole marketing campaigns are extremely well controlled. Therefore, the idea that they could release a whole new game this year is not entirely farfetched.
But what about you Rockstar fans? Are you content with GTA V on the PC for the year, or would you like to see Red Dead Redemption 2 make an appearance? Or perhaps there's another Rockstar game that you'd like to see get a release date instead? Let us know in the comments!
