Whoa! They're seriously making a [Bill & Ted 3](movie:565978) movie!
I love the Bill & Ted franchise! Everything about it is excellent! I’m sure I’m not the only one who is excited for this to finally happen after so many years! I mean even Keanu Reeves expressed his interest in this project:
“I think they’ve really crafted something that’s funny.”
He goes on by explaining the plot:
“[Bill and Ted have] been weighed down by the burden of having to save the world by the song, and they just can’t write it. They’re losing their wives and their children, they’re losing their families... [T]hey’re just like, “Dude, we have to write the song!” The future comes back and says if you don’t write the song by this certain time the universe is going to unravel and history and everything is going to change and dinosaurs are gonna walk the Earth. Jesus is playing baseball! All sorts of weird things start unraveling and wormholes are twisting. We have to kind of bring order back, and it’s connected into bringing our families together by writing a song.”
Steller! Future Bill and Ted Us’s, finally get to hear the best song in the world by Wyld Stallyns and Jesus playing baseball! Well I’m excited!
Even Alex Winter is excited about the sequel! Here is what he had to say about it:
“The movies were always about rock & roll, that was a big part of the movies, so [we’ll explore] what’s happened to rock & roll in the last twenty years. So the movie’s gonna get in and play with some of that stuff: where’s rock, where are we, what’s happened to the whole idea of saving the world, or what hasn’t happened?”
In a recent post Winter was asked if he was sick of people asking when the movie is going to be ready. He responds:
“We’re trying to get the movie made, so how could we be sick of it? It’s really been us driving the whole thing, me and Keanu and [writers] Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon]. So we’re producing it and we’re actively trying to get it made. We’re not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking about and actually shoot the [dang] thing.”
“There’s many versions of ourselves in this movie,” Winter continues. “[It’s] answering the question: ‘What happened to these guys?’ They’re supposed to have done all this stuff, they weren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree, what happened 20 years later? To answer that question in a comedic way felt rich with possibility.”
Since this hasn’t happened yet, I would like to talk about what NEEDS to happen in this most triumphant film!
The Original Cast
I’ve said this before about my Zombieland 2 post regarding what needs to be done for the sequel, so I’ll say it again. Obviously, if you’re going to make a perfect franchise, you need to have the same people who started it all! Without a doubt you’ll need the dynamic duo Bill and Ted, their “Us’s”(whether they be future Us’s or Good Robot Us’s, you’re gonna need them!), The Princess’, The Reaper Formerly Known as Death and of course... Station!
Bring back the Bill & Ted Lingo
Who doesn’t love the lingo in the movie? Once you say “excellent”, “bogus” “heinous” or even “bodacious”; people automatically know what you’re talking about. Even greeting people by playing an air guitar while saying “Be excellent to each other” and “Party on dudes!” or “Station!” for that matter, people will greet you likewise. I seriously hope this salutation becomes the new international greeting for the world!
Rock Band Cameos
I personally think it would be most excellent if the Wyld Stallyns had inspirational rock bands that we know and love show up every now and then. The musical artists could even help Bill and Ted on their journey in finding that one song that will bring peace and harmony to mankind and aliens alike. Here is what I think should happen when we introduce rock bands in the film.
I think introducing the Foo Fighters should happen. We could even have Dave Grohl reprise his role as Satan from Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny(I mean if we’re gonna have Jesus playing baseball, why not Satan playing a musical instrument?). Grohl could start out by playing himself, but the surprise is that he is actually the devil in disguise, who is trying to stop Bill and Ted from succeeding in making the Best Song in the World. This is where Tenacious D comes in. They already made the Tribute to the Best Song in the World. What if that “tribute” is to Bill and Ted’s Song? Jack Black can play that again to Satan. Thus saving the the souls of Bill and Ted so that they can finish making the Best Song in the World!
In Excellent Adventure They always talk about how their band would be better if they either knew how to play the guitar or had Van Halen play with them. It would be cool to see them finally fulfill that dream by having Eddie Van Halen feature in their awesome song! The band Kiss could even show up and be huge fans of Bill and Ted and want to be part of their triumphant success. Heck we could even throw in some modern rock bands like Coheed & Cambria to compete against Wyld Sallyns in the Battle of the Bands!
In the first movie the conflict was Ted being shipped to a Military Academy if he did not pass his history exam. The dynamic duo were able to fix the problem by having an excellent adventure through time in both the future and the past.
In the second movie the conflict was the bad guy from the future stopping Bill and Ted from creating the "best song in the world". They took on a bogus journey through heaven and hell to make their mark in Rock and Roll History!
It has been brought to my attention that the new conflict in this movie will be them trying to find that one song that will not only unite nations in the world but races of aliens as well. If Bill and Ted don't find it, the world will come to an end! This will be most triumphant!
Obviously George Carlin has past. So we wouldn’t be able to use him as Rufus. With the way technology is now, we can recreate the past through holograms. They did that with 2Pac, why not do it for Rufus? Unless of course... 2Pac is still alive…
Bill and Ted’s Kids
In the second movie Bill and Ted went through time to learn how to play the guitar. When they came back, they are experienced and started a family. We obviously need to see their kids all grown up. Hey maybe they even look and act just like their parents and they are part of the band Wyld Stallyns!
Easter Egg References
Over the years both actors have been successful in their careers. Keanu Reeves with The Matrix franchise and Alex Winter with his Ben Ten TV Series. It would be cool to have their works hinted at in the third movie. The aliens known as Station could make some Ben Ten reference as a hint for Winter’s success in that. I don’t know about you… but this alien looks like Station all hulked out!
Now for Reeves, there could be a scene where he’s in the telephone booth, that travels back in time, and there’s an enemy(maybe it could even be Agent Smith), trying get Ted, but Ted disappears with the booth in a nick of time. This scene not only happened when he was escaping from a Medieval Knight trying to bash them in, but it also happened in The Matrix when Trinity disappears in a phone booth before the agents got to her. What could also happen for Reeves is that he could even have a fight scene where he is dodging bullets. Or even a “There is no spoon” or “I know Kung Fu” reference would be funny! Or better yet a Conspiracy Keanu meme reference! NOW that would be funny!
At the end of Bogus Journey it showed various things happening in the news about Bill and Ted’s successful career. Based on these news papers, let’s hope we see this happen in the third movie!
The Excellent Song
The stakes are high for this particular fictional song! So in order for this song to have a huge effect on the world, we need to not only combine well-known classic rock, but also classic instrumentals from the past like Beethoven! Now that would be cool to bring Beethoven back from Excellent Adventure to complete the trilogy. The band Wyld Stallyns will have Bill and Ted, their families, Future and Robot Us’s, Death, Station, Eddie Van Halen and Beethoven!
An Excellent New Movie Title.
If you’ve noticed, in both movie titles it not only had the names of the main characters but it also had something that described the degree of the situation that they are in. I honestly think that the title should be “Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Quest”. Because their quest is to look for the “best song in the world” and it will be a most triumphant one at that!
What do you think? Is this what we need for the Bill & Ted 3 Movie?
