Full suit reveal, a devilishly good pay off.....
Full suit reveal, a devilishly good pay off.....

A little late to the party in finishing Daredevil on Netflix, but it's finally happened. (I put this down to having a girlfriend really. partners, much like puppies are not just for Christmas)

For me, Daredevil was an icredible addition to the ever growing Marvel cinematic universe. It's gritty, Brutal and realistic tone from the start set stage for some of the most gripping viewing that i've experienced on Netflix for a while if not ever. The addition of the seedy under belly of the criminal world we've all come to love from the pages of Marvel was handled brilliantly whilst simaltaneously tying in with the rest of the MCU, I personally enjoyed reading the fan reactions from fellow contributors in their articles pointing out those classic Marvel Easter eggs.

Marvel delivered with an action packed experience that brought us a grounded and relatable hero, the every man that just wants his family and neighbours safe. I found it extremely refreshing to watch a hero who's just a man (plus super senses, obviously) get beaten down and truly struggle, to see Matt Murdock beaten to within an inch of his life at nearly every turn. (you really underestimate the struggle when you become so use to magic hammers and suits made of a gold, tiatnium alloy) The growing criminal world is something im really looking forward to seeing expanded, especially Madame Gao who has already set the stage for Iron Fist, with the symbol for the Steel Serpant appearing on the wraps of heroin and the location of her home land being a considerable distance further than China. (I'm both hoping and wishing that this is a nod to K'un-Lun)

I feel the heads over at Marvel Studios deserve a pat on the back for the risk they take with such beloved characters. With so many die hard fans ready and waiting at their keyboards in this day and age I can imagine it being an extremly daunting task when their writers sit at their laptops, but in my opinion they continue to knock it out of the park with every new addition. As a life long fan of everything geek and nerd related, I am aboslutely blown away with this new series and the attention to detail in serivce of the fans is something to be celebrated.

Full suit in all its glory.
Full suit in all its glory.

The full suit reveal at the end of the season was the perfect end to a brilliant origin story. I for one was curious to see how they'd pull of Daredevils look whilst keeping it grounded and realistic but i was extremly happy with the end results, it reminded me of his secret war costume crossed with captain america's. (It made me want to gert suited up and go start fighting crime, but in Somerset unless theres a string of tractor thefts im out of luck.)

Whilst not everything I loved from the books made it to screen yet, I'm pretty sure its all coming down the line with the announcement of a second series, I really hope they include Bullseye and take Charlie Cox's hint a bring in the punisher. (or atleast get him his own series, how awesome would that show be?) But regardless of my impatients Marvel have proven they really can deliver after the collosal train wreck that was Ben Afflecks attempt! Their risks continue to pay of, even if we as fans do get a little dissapointed that somethings dont get pulled from page to screen occasionally.

But just think, if they translated directly from the source material Owsley would've looked like this......
