Chances are that most of you are aware of the Death Star-sized explosion that Star Wars set off lately with all of their new news. From the new trailer to news about Battlefront, Star Wars fan boys and fangirls have a lot to be excited about.
Added to all of the recent news is the reveal that the two opposing forces in the Galaxy are no longer named the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire. Seeing as The Force Awakens takes place decades after the events of Return of the Jedi, it makes sense that they have undergone a few changes. So the question begs to be asked...
What Are They Called Now?
Well folks, meet The Resistance. Sure the name sounds a bit like something taken out of a dystopia novel, but the name intrigues me. It makes it sound like they are once again being oppressed by the Empire. Wait, no. Not Empire.
I would like to introduce you all to the First Order. They are the new face of evil in the galaxy, and they have a brand new symbol to represent themselves (which honestly looks a bit like the mouth of a Sarlaac).
Judging by the name, it seems like the bad guys, Kylo Ren included, are back on top, which is starting to get a bit confusing. Isn't Princess Leia known as Queen Leia now? Why couldn't she stop such a massive uprising of stormtroopers? Especially when her brother is one of the most powerful Force-users in the galaxy. I guess we'll have to find out in December.
Sure, it might take a while to get used to these new names, but I think that the change is for the best. After all, Star Wars belongs to a new company, it has a new director, and it has a new cast. As much as we may or may not like it, Star Wars is changing a lot more than we originally anticipated. I still remain optimistic though, how about you?
