The starwars universe continues to grow and expand as the years go by. One of the most recognizable and beloved sci-fi film franchises is still going strong after the success of The Force Awakens, the seventh installment in the starwars saga which joined the billion dollar club and has a sequel on the way in 2017. Rogue One: A starwars story is the next outing in the starwars film universe which takes place shortly before the events of "A new hope" and follows a ragtag team of rebels as they attempt to steal plans for the Death-star. This new film will follow the lives and adventures of never-before seen characters in the starwars saga and is the first of many possible spin-offs.

Here's the plot synopsis:

Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor's rule.

There has been alot of excitement and intrigue surrounding the film. When the first official trailer dropped, there was not a force in the galaxy that could contain the collective joy of the internet. Rogue One encountered a bit of turbulence courtesy of reports that surfaced about the film needing to undergo a number of extensive re-shoots. The extent of the re-shoots was clarified by the creators but much of what was shot and re-shot remains a mystery aside from the slightly increased presence of Vader in the film. That being said, Rogue One is still one of the most anticipated films of the year and disney and the people involved seem committed to bringing fans and audiences what they've come to expect from the starwars universe. Seeing as starwars hangs it coat on the month of December, the film is guaranteed to feel right at home and win big at the box-office. But will it join the billion dollar club and perform like The Force Awakens? Stay tuned.
