Well, the wait is finally going to be over. Rocky fans from all over the globe are going to have a big treat on November 25, 2015. Yes, Creed is coming. I don't know about you, but I'm really friggin' excited. Creed is going to be based on Adonis Creed, son of late great World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Apollo Creed.
So, that means, though Sly is in the film, he is not going to be what the film rolls on. Yes, I know that is not something that makes Rocky fans and Sly fans happy. We all have an emotional attachment to the character of Rocky Balboa. The guy taught us how to get back up once we are knocked down. He said something in Rocky Balboa which I found to be the most inspirational film dialogue I've heard
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody!
After I examined that dialogue closely and watching the scene for like 50 times, I came to the realization that this dialogue had the entire Rocky franchise in it. No matter how much anybody hit Rocky, he always got back up. No matter how strong the enemy is, he always managed to fight successfully.
You saw the title of the article. So let's get down to it all ONE BY ONE.
Rocky was not all fights as some people would say. In this film, Sylvester Stallone plays a small time boxer named Rocky Balboa. Though he is a good fighter, he never was able to get somewhere. That is until he gets a chance to fight for the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship against the champion Apollo Creed. Rocky, with the help of Mickey, and Paulie, and Adrian by his side delivers a great match on the fight night. At the end of the night, the crowd was all by his side and he realized that he didn't lose that night.
Rocky shows us how much we can become from being nothing. It rightfully got the Oscar for the Best Film.
One of the best sequels ever, Rocky II takes place right after Rocky. After the fight, Rocky and Apollo are rushed to the hospital and Apollo challenges Rocky to a rematch there. Rocky declines the challenge, leaving Apollo furious. But after sometime, Rocky finds that he needs money really badly, especially with his baby coming. So Rocky decides to fight Apollo again. He didn't let down the people cheering him and gave a hell of a show.
Rocky II shows that life gives you one last chance when you are in bad situations. So that makes it one of the best sequels ever made.
From here, we saw the sequels not reaching the standards of the original film. In this Film, Rocky takes on Clubber Lang.
Though this film didn't reach the standards of the first two films, it was still good.
Ivan Drago, comes to the US, setting the stage for a match between him and Apollo.
Rocky the looks for revenge when Apollo was killed by Drago between the match.
Though Rocky is afraid of Drago, he slowly overcomes those fears and fights him. Rocky never kept his standards low and never gave up that night either.
Personally, I think Rocky IV was a little better than Rocky III, as Sly shows us how we should start to face our fears and find glory. But still, I don't think it reached the level of Rocky either. Sorry Rocky IV.
Probably the worst film in the franchise, Rocky V didn't show anything. In this film, Rocky trains Tommy Gunn after he is brought to rags from riches when he is cheated by his accountant. But, he loses quality time with his son. Resulting in his family breaking down
As I mentioned above this was the worst film in the franchise. So, no comments
With this film, we saw the Rocky franchise getting a second birth. Rocky Balboa who has been retired for almost 20 years decides to get back in the ring with his opponent being the World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mason 'The Line' Dixon. Rocky Balboa, though he is in his sixties, still makes the champion sweat in the ring, proving to people that legends are never out of the fuel.
This in my opinion, was the best Rocky film after Rocky II. It maintained the quality of the first and the second film Sylvester Stallone stunned all of us. It shows us that life may knock you down many times, but if you chose to hit harder than life hits you, then that will be the end of your problems.
Rocky spin-off film centered on the son of Apollo Creed, Adonis Creed who comes to Philadelphia in search of the great fighter, Rocky Balboa, trying to make Rocky his trainer. Though Rocky denies first, he later sees Apollo inside Adonis and agrees to be his trainer. Rocky tries to give the best to Adonis even though he is fighting a battle from the inside which is the toughest to beat compared to all of his past opponents.
I've been excited ever since this still came out. On the right, you can see a man who in his late sixties and still moving around like a champion. Unfortunately, we won't be seeing him do that against anyone. That's right people, Rocky Balboa isn't going to be fighting in this film.
Well, let's come down.
While Rocky III, IV, and V saw the franchise only being pushed, I hope Creed will have much more to offer than that. We'll see a Creed and a Balboa together after a long time. And we'll see Rocky punching around, which is really so much. It will be emotional. Much more emotional than Rocky III, IV and V. Hell, I think the film is going to be better than Rocky II.
What Should Be Done To Make It Better.
- Gonna Fly Now, Eye Of The Tiger - Both the songs should be in the film
- Inspirational quotes like the one from Rocky Balboa
- Adonis should wear the shorts that Apollo used to wear. The one with the USA colors on it.
- Adrian, Mickey, Apollo and maybe Paulie - They can return through flashbacks and archive footage.
- A compelling story line.
- One of the fights from any one of the past Rocky movies - Rocky should be shown watching this as a memory.
That's my opinion
Creed is going to be here in 7 months, and I'm excited like hell. If you have any more Rocky movies left to watch, then I advise you not to waste another second and go do it now. See you on November 25.
