News broke over the weekend that the actor Ben Powers (born Alton A. Powers) had passed away on April 6th in New Bedford, Massachusetts at the age of 64. Powers was best known for his role in the 1970s CBS series Good Times.
Born in Brooklyn in 1950, Powers was talented in many fields, including stage acting, stand-up comedy, singing and of course, on-screen acting. Most famously Powers' played the football player Keith Anderson, husband of Thelma Evans, in the show Good Times, a series about a black family living in inner-city Chicago.
Following Good Times Powers' had a number of guest starring roles on shows such as Flamingo Road, The New Odd Couple and Laverne & Shirley. He also acted in movies such as Cheech & Chong's Next Movie, Things Are Tough All Over, and The Man Who Loved Women.
Powers is survived by his mother, two sisters, two uncles and aunts, four nephews and three nieces.
