The second trailer for this summers rebooted "Fantastic Four" film hit the web over the weekend and gave us a look at the Thing, Dr Doom and the teams unique and life altering abilities.
Director Josh Trank certainly has an interesting take on the first family in comic books, putting a David Cronenberg "The Fly" type spin on the story. The first teaser gave us a very dark look at the film which put some fans off, but this trailer should bring them right back. This excellent trailer shows us the teams dynamic, their powers and a look at what the story will be.
Reed Richards (Miles Teller), Sue Storm (Kate Mara), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan), Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) and Victor Domashev (Toby Kebbel) transport into another dimension, what fans believe to be the N-Zone. After an accident in this dimension, the team return to the world with abilities that will change their life and the world forever.
What I love about this trailer is that is shows a lighter side to the previously dark looking film without looking hokey or meta, the tone is still heavy, but its interjected with humor, fun action and spectacular visuals. We see the different team members, how they're brought together and how they play off each other. Miles Teller and Kate Mara look to have terrific chemistry just from this trailer alone, I am very much looking forward to their scenes. Michael B. Jordan looks PERFECT as Johnny Storm, the wisecrack of the group. I was unsure about Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm but after that short bit of dialogue between him and Richards, my worries have been put to rest, they perfectly captured the relationship between those two.
The five travel into what looks like the N-Zone and something goes horribly wrong, it looks like Victor falls and is left there which may be why he returns as the villainous Doctor Doom.
Reed Richards gets the ability to stretch his body into any shape.
Johnny Storm can cover his body in fire and fly.
His sister Sue can turn invisible, create energy fields and fly.
Ben Grimm is forever transformed into the Thing, a being made up entirely of rocks.
And Victor Domashev comes back as Doom!
A lot of fans are still nervous about the upcoming film but for me this trailer solidifies this as one of my most eagerly anticipated films of the year, as a big fan of the source material I feel nothing but satisfied by what I'm seeing from the film.
I never really understood a lot of people's worries when it came to this new movie, is features a talent heavy cast, a great writer (Simon Kinberg), a director full of promise (Josh Trank) and is being made by the studio who previously put out "X-Men Days Of Future Past", I personally, don't see the worry.
