are you ready you ready to rock and roll? One of the most obscure films to be coming out this year but certainly not the least is Jem and the holograms. The movie is based on a show that came out in the 80's and has since developed a strong cult following( seeing a pattern?).There are high expectations for this movie and the fans of the show will be the biggest critics if this movie fails to perform and so the pressure is mounting on the director to give the fans something to be happy about and enjoy.
If you're a fan of movies focused on music or music groups then this is the movie for you or if you simply want a break from all the action movies, romantic dramas, and superhero movies.Jem and the holograms biggest strength may very well be it's fans and its biggest weakness could be its release date or limited demographic. While watching the movie or looking at these images you might recognize some familiar faces and even get the chance to see new ones.
Based on early online internet reactions from fans it looks like the movie could be in trouble since some have been quick to criticize the production values and label the film as a half-baked wanna-be disney movie. This is funny considering at least one of the stars was on a disney channel show and another star was in a disney channel movie. Some even went on to express their distaste with colorful and offensive memes and quippy comments that might just force a laugh out of you.
here is the official synopsis for the film:
In a hyper-linked social media age, an orphaned teenage girl, Jerrica Benton (Aubrey Peeples), becomes an online recording sensation, and she and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt - one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles - in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.
Based on that synopsis you can already picture that this movie will revolve around a girl who is suddenly caught up in fame but has to deal with alot of emotional baggage involving her family as well as a dead parent. Aside from that this film will also be dealing with alot of 80's themes and issues. You will also see alot of 80's style attire as well as hear some 80's slang.Fan's of the 80's might enjoy a film like this so that's definitely a bonus for this movie but we'll see how it performs at the box office after the first opening weekend.

The films stars: Aubrey Peeples, Stephanie Scott,Hayley Kiyoko,Aurora Perrineau, Juliette Lewis,Ryan Guzman,Molly Ringwald, Nathan Moore,Barnaby Carpenter, and Nicholas Braun. Samantha Newark and Britta Phillips will cameo in the film.
