Director James Wan, hot off the release of his smash hit Furious 7, is being eyed by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to direct the upcoming Aquaman solo film.
There is currently no offer on the table. However, sources close to the director are saying he is the studio's primary choice and that some early talks have started taking place.
Jason Momoa is already on board, his character set to make his big screen debut next year in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Aside from his solo film, the character will also be appearing in the upcoming Justice League movie as one of the group's premiere members.
Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are currently writing two separate scripts for the standalone project.
Bare in mind, however, given the success of Furious 7, it is very possible that the director could return for the next installment of the popular racing franchise, which is said to also be in the very early stages of development.
For now, we wait.
