As you'll no doubt recall, a certain video recently surfaced online, featuring your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man in what appeared to be a leaked post-credits scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Remind yourself of the scene in question below:
The footage sparked mass online debate, fuelling much speculation about Spidey's supposed introduction to the MCU. But, as some expected, the video wasn't quite what it purported to be...
Keen to clear the matter up, the director had the following to say on the divisive topic:
"Yeah, that's not real. I don't know where that started, it is not in fact part of the movie and I don't know who came up with it.
We wanted to be clear that there was no tag scene at the very, very end of the film because after sitting through 40 minutes of credits and not seeing anything we thought people would become irate. No, I don't know where that started."
So, as it turns out, we won't be seeing the wise-cracking web-slinger fighting side by side with Stark, Hulk and the rest of the gang...at least, not just yet.
I've gotta say - hats off to whoever was behind the doctored Spider-Man scene, someone at Marvel should give that guy or gal a job!
In related news, the REAL mid-credits AoU scene has just been leaked, and this one is 100% legit. You can watch it HERE (Spoilers!...obviously).
