Whoa, this is a mind blowing theory that I had never looked much into. The fact that Tony Stark later continues to take pictures with the peace sign shows his homage to this soldier. Here are some photos from the various Iron Man films proving this theory.
Seeing a soldier die by a creation of Stark Industries had to put a heavy weight on Tony Stark. This was just a minor spark in Stark's total transformation from alcoholic playboy to becoming the founding member of The Avengers. This is one of the reasons the first Iron Man movie became such as success. It took these ideas that had been in comics for so long and transformed them to our modern reality. This also speaks to the state of the world when this movie came out. Still deep in a war that many didn't want. This reflects the idea of losing our armed forces in the name of peace. Tony Stark was able to see the destruction his company was profiting on and was able to stop it from destroying more precious lives in combat.
Even with that, we know Tony Stark will be facing a new challenge. One that will start in [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) and will carry on to Civil War. The idea that he needs to keep the world safe by creating his own safe guard (Ultron) will undoubtedly leave Tony questioning his moral choices. No one man can take on the weight of the world, and Ultron is going to prove this. Will he be able to continue on or will Ultron break him and cause him to become in a way, his own worst enemy.
