As the cast of The Avengers: Age of Ultron are making their press rounds promoting the movie, Robert Downey Jr had an interview with Channel 4 news.
While Robert has seemed like a pretty down to earth guy as of late, there is one topic that should be avoided. Like everyone, he has his old demons that he has faced in the past, and would rather, quite naturally, not have to speak about them when an interview is being conducted to promote a movie, not to get a soundbite about something that has nothing to do with it.
He, like many of the cast, had many interviews to do for promoting the movie, and the interviewer only had 8 minutes to get in the questions he had for one of the biggest stars of the Marvel Universe franchises.
Instead, he tried to focus on past quotes, from 2008, and old demons, which was not meant to be the focus of the interview. Robert Downey Jr tried a number of times to veer the conversation back to the topic at hand saying things like
"Are we promoting a movie?"
"It's getting a little Diane Sawyer in here."
While the questions were fair, and maybe in a different time and place would have been answered, in the moment it came off as slightly tactless. The interviewer was not confident in himself to have asked the question, Robert even noted that his foot was shaking, and it made for an awkward situation for all involved.
