Gerald Butler is set to star in a number of high-profile films over the the next few years and one of those films is called Geostorm. The movie is being directed By Dean Devlin who is also responsible for co-writing and producing the film. The film is self is rather intriguing since butler isn't known for starring in science fiction movies. The cast of this film is also very impressive and could be one of the most colorful ensembles seen in a film.

Here's the plot synopsis for the film:

The story sees Gerard Butler playing a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. A trip into space follows, while on Earth a plot to assassinate the president begins to unfold.

Sounds a bit generic doesn't it? why is the president always in danger of being killed in some kind of conspiracy in movies? The movie itself does look like it will boast some interesting performances despite the tropes that it may employ. the synopsis tells us that there are 2 incidents that may or may no be isolated.Have fun putting all the pieces together.

Abbie cornish is one of actors to pay attention to in this movie since she will be playing a secret service agent. Her character will probably discover the plot to assassinate the president from the main character's brother who will also be playing a significant role. We can be certain that Cornish's character will definitely be kicking-butt and taking names in this movie.

Andy Garcia is playing the president in the film. It's not clear how much he will have to do in the movie, but given his record as an actor it could be alot more than a helpless world leader at the mercy of his would-be killers.

Ed Harris, who was previously seen in "Run all night" will be playing the president's secretary in the movie. In the photo he is carrying a backpack and fiddling with something inside it. There was a rumor that his character is some how involved in the assassination plot but that is unconfirmed.

Geostorm isn't getting very much attention right now, but that will change when the first trailer hits the web and people descend on the comments section of youtube. Gerald butler was once at a point in his career where he was considered to be a major box-office draw but that has diminished quite a bit since his earlier big screen performances. Dean Devlin also has a track record but it might help him out this time around. Overall you can expect an entertaining action film with some fan favorite performances.

Geostorm lands in theaters on October 21, 2016
