That is correct ladies and gentlemen! The cast of Suicide Squad is still growing!
Director David Ayer has continually kept us guessing as to who he might be casting next, and if his cast will ever be complete. The latest edition to his cast is none other than rapper and actor, Common.
While Common's role hasn't been confirmed I have a few ideas as to who he might be playing...
Remember those rumors a while back about Tyrese Gibson and Common both rumored to be visiting Warner Bros. Studios and in the running for the role of John Stewart? Well I do, which is why my first possibility for Common's role is none other than
1.) Green Lantern
I know what you're thinking, "John Stewart? In Suicide Squad? How would he even tie in?" Well here's what I think could happen:
Have him appear in just a cameo. He can be an established character in the DCCU, that way we don't have to bother with an origin story. He can appear brining in a criminal to Belle Reve, which not only leads us in to the infamous prison, but show our world, that yes there is a Green Lantern, and he is a forced to be reckoned with in the future.
Also, the fact that Warner Bros. has talked about how they wanted the John Stewart Green Lantern doesn't hurt my theory.
This one is kind of a long shot, but somebody has to take this role because it is once again vacant.
Originally, Joe Manganiello was signed on for this role. After Manganiello's departure, Jim Parrack was rumored to be stepping into his orange and black boots, however recent findings by Umberto Gonzalez (El Mayimbe) from Latino Review, suggest that Parrack will be playing the role of Johnny Frost, the Joker's driver/sidekick. This once again opens up the role of Deathstroke, so it is entirely possible for Common to play him. I think it's probably not that likely, but he does have the voice and tone to audibly have the presence and captivate us as Slade Wilson.
Clock King is another iconic member of the Suicide Squad. In the New 52 version of Clock King, he is a crime lord named William "Billy" Tockman, who runs his Crime Ring out of a clock repair shop called....you guessed it.... Clock King. However, I wouldn't mind seeing the version of Clock King who only has six months to live and was just trying to set aside some money to take care of his sister. It would be nice to have at least one villain we could be somewhat sympathetic for.
Last, but certainly not least is....
I have absolutely nothing to support this theory than the fact that a trident (possibly Aquaman's) was seen in a trophy case belonging to Amanda Waller, so that could be a result of the events following Batman v. Superman or it could be from a fight between Black Manta and Aquaman, ending with Manta's arrest. Another supporting fact is that Manta is a key player in the current comic book run of Suicide squad.
