The World of Warcraft movie has been pushed back three months to avoid an interstellar clash with Star Wars.
The long awaited Warcraft movie has been delayed by three months. The original release date was set at March 11, 2016. The new release date is now set at June 16, 2016.
Warcraft was originally set for release on December 18 this year but Blizzard decided to move this date into 2016. This was primarily down to the fact that Disney announced, [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) will be launching on the same date.
Warcraft director, Duncan Jones has stated that the movie will feature a plethora of special effects, one to rival the likes of "Avatar and Lord of the Rings at the same time."
The storyline will be based on that of the first game in the Warcraft series, 1994’s Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and Jones says he’ll “spend equal time” on both factions.
There is heavy emphasis on the “choose your side” element of the Warcraft games built into the movie development.
