Ok, so I took the quiz and I think it may have been a little bit off. As you can tell by most of my posts, I am really into superheroes, specifically Marvel. However, I can’t argue too much about the result I got from the quiz. My result was Animation and, as you can tell from some of my other posts, I love me some Disney and Pixar.
So the quiz suggested that I write about Fantasy/Adventure. My first thought was... well... superheroes. They certainly fit into that category. But I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone. So after a while of thinking what kind of fantasy movies I like, I finally came up with... Star Wars.
And what better time to write something about Star Wars, then right after a new trailer comes out. So my 'article out of my comfort zone’ will be...
5 Things I Want to See in The Force Awakens
Han Solo and Chewbacca in Action
Harrison Ford looked great in that moment of the new trailer that got us all so fired up for this movie. But he was just standing in one spot. I want to see Han Solo in action. I know Ford is 72 years old, so his action capability is probably very limited. I just hope Han doesn’t just fade into the background. We do see the falcon in action in the trailer. Hopefully that’s a good sign.
Star Wars created this galaxy far, far away filled with all this futuristic technology (despite being from a long time ago). It didn’t seem like we could see any new awesome stuff from these movies. Then, Episode 1 gave us the double-sided lightsaber (the only thing of worth that it gave us, other than the character that wielded it). The first tease of Episode 7 that got everyone so excited, featured another new lightsaber. We have also seen storm troopers decked out in new gear. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see some awesome new tech.
A Badass Lightsaber Fight
I know we don’t want to admit it, but the prequels gave us some pretty cool stuff. The fight scene between Anakin and Obi Wan in Episode 3 was the best lightsaber battle in any of the six movies, in my opinion. Obviously the advances in technology helped to make things look a little better in the more recent movies. Well, it has been ten years since Episode 3 came out, so I am really looking forward to an awesome looking lightsaber fight.
(Side Note: I can't believe that I was getting a red squiggly line under "lightsaber" while I was writing this. Come on, how is that not an accepted word by now?)
A New Villain Worthy of Taking Over for Darth Vader
This is probably the least likely thing on my list. I mean, talk about big shoes to fill. In my opinion, Darth Vader is the greatest villain in cinematic history. Now, I haven’t followed all of the Star Wars canon, that may or may not actually be canon any more. Everything I know comes from the movies. So I don’t know much about what’s going to come and who we may or may not see. All I know is, if this movie is going to really surprise me, and go way over my expectations, it will introduce a new villain that at least shows the potential to eventually get close to Vader status. I don’t see it happening. There’s my challenge Mr. Abrams.
I know this isn’t very likely. Or is it? Fans argue whether or not he survived the Sarlacc Pit. I’m not here to argue whether or not he is alive or what books said what, I’m just saying I hope we see him again. And so does Patton Oswalt...
Actually, you know what? Scratch everything I said. I’ll take the movie that Patton described. Drop Abrams, I want Oswalt!
