Originally, I wasn't entirely sure who the target audience for Dude Bro Party Massacre III really is. Is it aimed at actual dude bros, or those who like to see dude bros massacred?
Well, after watching the red band trailer and checking out the latest poster, I get the feeling it's the latter. In fact, yeah, it's totally the second one. Check out the poster, previously released trailer and synopsis below:
Dude Bro Party Massacre III follows Brent Chirino as he enters the oil-misted halls of the Delta Bi Theta fraternity. Brent isn’t just any pledge… he’s a legacy. And it’s a legacy of death. See, Brent is here to solve the mystery of his identical twin brother Brock’s murder, and he’ll do anything to crack the case… even attempt the frat’s most daring prank of all time. After the Deltas’ senior prank causes two commercial jets to collide over an orphanage, they’re punished to a weekend at The Old Sorority House by the Lake. But they’re not the only ones there… a mysterious killer named “Motherface” lurks nearby. She knows the bros’ deepest fears… and she’s taking advantage of those fears to pick them off, one by shirtless one, in increasingly gory ways. It’s a race against time for Brent to discover the mysteries of his brother’s death before Motherface butchers them all!
I know what you're thinking. If I haven't seen the first two Dude Bro Party Massacres, will I still understand the complex and multifaceted storyline of this third outing?
Well, I don't want to spoil the illusion, but Dude Bro Party Massacre III is in fact the first, and only, entry into the Dude Bro Party Massacre franchise. The film, which was developed by the web-based comedy troupe 5-Second Films, was funded on Kickstarter to the tune of $500,000 dollars and aims to parody the ridiculous nature of low-budget 1980s slashers - if the trailer didn't make that abundantly clear enough.
Despite its humble origins, the film does boast some big names, including Patton Oswalt, Larry King, and Andrew W.K. It even stars Greg Sestero - a.k.a. Mark from 2003 cult classic The Room.
Unfortunately, Dude Bro Party Massacre III doesn't have a public release date yet, although it will premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival this June.
