We've known for a while now that Bryan Singer's upcoming foray into the X-Men franchise was going to mostly take place in the 1980s. The past two X-Men films showcased the '60s and '70s rather well, so my expectations were rather high with Singer taking the X-Men into the '80s.

The director is currently situated up north in Montreal with his cast shooting X-Men: Apocalypse, and several individuals were able to snap photos on set that capture just how radical the look of the film is going to be. It's very, very '80s. Singer clearly nailed the aesthetic perfectly and I couldn't be more stoked.

First off, the set dressing in a mall? Perfect. Secondly, while we got our first official look at Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler yesterday—which I thought looked great—seeing Nightcrawler on set, wearing the ever obvious Michael Jackson Thriller jacket, is making me way more hyped.

Will Nightcrawler break out and do the Thriller dance at one point? Sure it'd be cringeworthy, but it'd also be hilarious at the same time. One can dream!

Big Hair & Crazy Shades

The big, giant hair... definitely a staple of '80s culture. Lana Condor and Sophie Turner (who play Jubilee and Jean respectively) are totally rocking that hair style. Scott's shades also remind of the batsh*t crazy sunglasses from that era. Most would probably say he looks like a dork, but I think he looks rad as hell. Will Tye Sheridan portray a confident Cyclops? Or will he be an awkward geek? Either way, he'll be stylin' for days.

Jean is clearly wearing those high-waisted mom jeans, love that, but above we have Jubilee wearing what appears to be mom jean shorts. Damn. It's both a comic and era accurate design. Singer and his team clearly did their research for the costuming. So hyped. Just seeing these set photos has me convinced X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be righteous.

But what about you? Think an X-Men film set in the 1980s will be awesome or lame? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
