On October 29th 2014 a kickstarter campaign was launched for a possible remake/remix of the classic 1922 vampire film "Nosferatu".
Many vampire films have come to the Hollywood spotlight, most of them have told story's of love, passion & blood. But this project is something special, it comes from the creators of the 2005 Remake of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" a film which still gives the viewer chills and warps the brain after every view.
This passion project was made to give fans of the classic tale a new look into the world of Nosferatu, also as it says in the tittle of this post, funded by fans on Kickstarter. David Lee Fisher is the man who made this fantastic idea come to be, if you'd like to visit the Kickstarter page and look how far this project has come click the link here - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/82215933/nosferatu-the-feature-film-remix
Doug Jones has been the chosen actor to wear the face of evil, he is a very notable actor who mostly gives performances by wearing other faces, most notably "Abe Sapien" from the HellBoy movies. The team that gve us a re imagining of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" back in 2005 is the same team behind the 2016 Nosferatu.
But the big decision that is surrounding this project and what makes it a special case is the fact that all the funding was to be sought by crowd help off of Kickstarter, and i am very glad to say that they reached there goal. Nosferatu will be shot this year 2015 and released globally Jan 2016.
Here are some mock images from the director off there kickstarter page, the old and new versions of Nosferatu.
These images give off the tone the director wants to give for the film, and with the use of green screen technology they are able to scan the same environments from the 1920 classic and remake them for a new century of fans.
Here you can see Doug Jones is full makeup and costume for the part, with this flawless execution fans will feel the true horror of the Count as he first rises on screen from his slumber.
With a total of 744 Backers and $67,551 raised in crowd funding the project is in post production as of now. With all that said and done, we have come to the end of this story. The team behind this film has the right idea on how to make a classic monster come back to life. Expect to see a lot more info on the film in the upcoming months and on the official Facebook page here - https://www.facebook.com/NosferatuRemix
If many of you were to late to get in on the rewards don't worry there might be some ways to still get in on the goods. The film will be released digitally on all major platforms next year. Until then, let us all prepare for the return of Nosferatu.
