It's a great time to be a fan of comic books and superheros. Our cinematic screens are filled with beloved characters being brought to life by hordes of talented actors and actresses. Everybody in Hollywood wants a piece of the Superhero pie, and with the extensive list of future releases in years to come, the battle for roles has only begun.
One such film that is wetting the anticipation of fans worldwide is the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of justice. With the trailer just recently released, fans are still in limbo over whether or not the Zack Snyder blockbuster will be a success. It is the origins of the planned DC cinematic universe, as they gear up to challenge Marvel studios domination of the market. Although Marvel are easily leading the way, DC have some dark horses in their stable, one being the highly anticipated David Ayer directed 'Suicide Squad'.
This anti-hero movie sees the return of one the most intriguing, twisted, pyschotic and utterly fascinating characters the world has ever seen. The internet went into a frenzy over the weekend, as David Ayer revealed the look of our new Joker, played by the brilliant Jared Leto. If you've forgotten, or somehow haven't seen the image, here it is in all its glory:
With nearly 41k retweets its clear to see the excitement that rippled through the internet thanks to just one image. As always, the new version of the Joker has split fans into two camps with some loving it and other loathing. Personally, I love it, but like many I will wait for the film to make a final judegement.
Yet is there a possibility that we'll be seeing our favorite psychotic clown on screen sooner than we first thought?
Jared Leto appears to have bulked up considerably, and will be behind bars when the Suicide Squad kicks off and all for a very specific and exciting reason...
'The Joker' Will Appear In BATMAN v SUPERMAN
Reports from Latino-Review are suggesting that a crowbar wielding Joker will appear in BvS to recreate an iconic scene from the comics in what is set to be a flashback scene depicting the death of pivotal character.
The scene is rumoured to depict The Joker beating Jason Todd, a.k.a. Robin, to death. This would be cohesive with the recent rumors swirling around the internet that Robin will be dead within the films timeline, and thanks to this report, it may all but confirm the idea.
Leto is currently shooting 'Suicide Squad' with David Ayer, but LatinoReview are reporting that the talented actor will be shooting scenes for both while in Toronto. The actor posted this cryptic image to his instagram.
Careful marketing tool? Or just plain coincidence?
So what do you guys think? Is this the reason for Joker being in prison at the start of Suicide Squad? Leave a comment below with your thoughts!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has an initial release date of March 23, 2016, with the Suicide Squad dropping later that year on August 5.
