This has to be a misprint.

Clearly, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in the MCU. Phil Coulson's death brought the Avengers together - his life can help keep them that way.

A spymaster, strategic and tactical genius of Nick Fury's level is fully capable of fooling a billionaire-genius-playboy-philanthropist-egos the size of Tony Stark's; 2 Truth & Justice types like Capt. America and Thor (who had Loki & Jane on his mind); and a genius-scientist-with-a-SERIOUS-split-personality-disorder like Dr. Banner. Hawkeye and Black Widow may not normally miss much, but they were either under the influence of Loki (Hawkeye) or worried about their partner being under the influence Loki (Black Widow) at the time. Add in the HULK raging through the helicarrier and I think we can all agree that there were extenuating circumstances for them missing this one. Plus, Fury IS their boss - obviously, HE can fool THEM (and did, in [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](tag:254973)).

Phil Coulson, in Thor, (as seen in the deleted scenes) actually picked up Mjolnir (ok, about 1", but only because Hawkeye interrupted him). HE IS A SUPERHERO. Superheroes come back from the dead. Happens all the time. T.A.H.I.T.I. only succeeded in bringing Phil back from the dead because Mjolnir mystically reached out from Asgard and "made it work" when Thor stopped for 2 minutes for a meal before getting back to work cleaning up the mess Loki made of the 9 realms. Have a crossover episode sometime to the THOR movies whereby Phil is in London, shouts for a hammer, and ends up holding Mjolnir in front of Sif. You've exposed Loki's masquerade in Asgard and Thor's actual location, which is clearly being masked by Loki's magic, to Heimdall when Thor calls Mjolnir back to him (and possibly gotten Coulson an Asgardian girlfriend in Sif.) Problems solved! (Phil works too hard anyway.)

Need further convincing? Consider this: MCU Is planning to release the movie Inhumans for July 2019. The entire backstory of the Inhumans has been told through [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](tag:722469) Skye is an Inhuman - Quake, specifically, straight out of the Marvel Universe. As a fan of the MCU, I'm having a hard time seeing that story told without seeing Phil Coulson in it.
