After hearing the news of the upcoming Goosebumps film my inner 10-year-old was extremely excited. The wonderful '90s book series by author R.L. Stine was a huge part of my childhood, though I will admit they did terrify me ever so slightly. Thankfully for those as excited as me, Goosebumps producer Neal H. Moritz and director Rob Lettermen sat down with io9 to spill some juicy details about what monsters we can expect to see!

First up Moritz revealed a huge juicy tidbit when he mentioned that the film has about 30 monsters in it! Wow. Fans will remember that many of the monsters appeared at comic-con, but I never imagined that there would be such a huge number of ghastly nasties in the film - not that I'm complaining!

Lettermen followed up Moritz' comment with an explanation about the monsters involved in the flick saying:

We certainly imply just an army of them. We zero in a handful that play big roles. One of the main monsters, one of the most popular monsters is Slappy. He’s a big part of the movie. He plays a big part of the movie.

Holy shit, the dummy that haunted my nightmares is coming back in a bigger role than ever before, hell yes!

In addition to all the monsters, Jack Black will also star in the film, which Mortiz describes as "a fun, scary movie," as R.L. Stine, the author of the book series! Though it might seem weird that the film is being based on the books, and that the author of those fictional books is somehow appearing in the film, Moritz explains Stine's appearance in the film quite well:

We explain that he was an author, who nobody knows what happened to, he stopped writing because of this problem, this curse. Each time he’s moved from town to town to town, because maybe one time a monster got out. He’s always been on the move.

I'm totally intrigued and can't wait to see it!

Goosebumps hits cinemas on October 16th!
