Today I sat down to watch the 1984 film The Terminator for the first time; The Terminator revolves around a dystopian future where humans and cyborgs are at war with each other, so to stop the human rebellion a cyborg (The Terminator) is sent into the past to kill the mother of the leader of the human rebellion before he was born however the humans also send back a man to protect her. The Terminator is directed by James Cameron and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn.

There are a few positives to this film which are: great action, good premise, the acting is ok, the story progresses well and the pace is good. Arnold Schwarzenegger is cast perfectly in the role of The Terminator and all the other performances suit the roles and are serviceable, the premise of the film is very interesting and is executed well; also the action is great and really fun to watch.

There are also a few negatives, which include: the special effects are pretty poor and the story is simple and predictable. To expand, the bad special effects can be put down to the fact that it was made in 1984 so it can't be classed as a proper negative; when I said the premise is good and interesting that was true but once that is explained the rest of the film is very simple and you know exactly what is going to happen.

Overall it is a very fun action film and I enjoyed watching it, so taking the negatives into consideration as well I have made a decision on the rating; and I rate this film:
