`I’ve wanted to draw and paint SuperHeroes for as long as I can remember. It all started with the SuperFriends cartoon, Batman TV show, and 8” Mego action figures. There was never enough of that stuff so I had to draw my own. I started collecting (and tracing) comic books. I loved to copy Jack Kirby, Sal Buscema, Steve Ditko...all the regulars.

I’ve been drawing and painting ever since. However, it wasn’t until recently that I returned to the superheroes. I had bought my son some canvases so he could draw and paint some cyborgs. Yep, cyborgs. Anyway, there was a canvas left over so I drew up a quick batman and painted it. It was liberating for me to do something so simple and nostalgic. I was hooked. For the last six months I’ve done little else than paint these simple superhero portraits.

The feedback on these paintings has been great and people are asking for commissions. There's even going to be a public showing of the paintings at the local comic book store ( JHU Comics in Staten Island ) this upcoming May. I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. There are just too many superheroes to paint.
