In probably the best news I've heard this week, 20th Century Fox will be moving forward on a sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service (according to The Wrap).
Kingsman was the surprise hit of the year pulling in more than $400 million at the global box office (mostly thanks to South Korea) and personally my favourite movie of the year so far (Yes, I've seen [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035))! It was a movie that didn't take itself too seriously and was able to deliver some of the best action sequences that I've seen come out of Hollywood in a long time.
There is a reason to be wary of the sequel, though: Matthew Vaughn (who directed the first film) is set to direct Fox's Flash Gordon reboot, meaning he may be too busy if Fox decides to make the sequel a priority. It should also be noted that Kingsman is actually based on a stand alone graphic novel from Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. This means that a Kingsman sequel would need to be an entirely original story created just for the film.
That said, I'm still excited. Taron Egerton did a great job in his role and I'm excited to see where his character goes from here. What are your thoughts?
Bonus: If you've seen the movie, check out this video to see exactly how much of the source material was changed for the film.
