Over the past couple of months Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have been keeping us all guessing as they drop bombshells left, right and center about who will appear in the much anticipated Zoolander 2. After their dramatic (and totally amazing) announcement of the film at Paris Fashion Week back in March, they have shocked us all again with the news that one very controversial celebrity will appear in the film: Justin Bieber!
Both Stiller and Bieber broke the unexpected news with posts to their social media account early Wednesday morning, and no matter what your personal feelings towards Bieber are, I think you'll agree the photo they posted was pretty amazing:
Damn, it's gotta be said, Bieber has some good cheekbones, and that Blue Steel even gives Zoolander himself a run for his money in a walk off!
Justin had actually hinted his somewhat surprising role in this film this past Monday when he shared the following Facebook status with his 72 million followers:
The 21-year-old's addition to the cast has obviously ignited much debate over social media, though the announcement of this movie role has been the latest move in a line of good moves for the wild-child pop star. Earlier this year he was the willing subject of a Comedy Central Roast where he took jokes at his expensive in his stride, and this past weekend he undoubtedly made hoards of teenage girls' dreams come true when he arrived at their prom unannounced. Perhaps Bieber is seeing the error of his past ways and turning over a new leaf?
Bieber's role in the film has not yet been revealed, though it will likely be a cameo appearance. He joins a pile of other celebrities who have signed on to star in the movie which will be released in early 2016, a whopping 15 years after the original film came out. The film was dramatically confirmed when Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson took to the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week as Derek Zoolander and Hansel.
The brilliant reveals kept coming when, on location in Rome, Ben Stiller shared that Billy Zane would appear in the movie, reprising his cameo role from the original film. The two broke the news in a video where Zane dressed up as Owen Wilson's character, Hansel:
The casting of Derek Zoolanders Son, Derek Jr. was also shared on social media when Stiller announced that Cyrus Arnold would be playing the park of the Derek and Matilda's child:
Zoolander 2 hits cinemas on February 12, 2016, and we can't wait!
