Despite the fact that they are willing to flaunt themselves in all manner of folk tales, anecdotes and legends, ghosts are notoriously camera shy.

People looking to capture a spirit in the cold, harsh light of the camera lens are often disappointed, but these ordinary people claim that they have capture some real life visitors from beyond the veil.

But, the important question is: are you as convinced as the photographers themselves are? Take a journey through the snaps below and vote for yourself to show the world if you're a believer:

The Wheelchair Apparition

This bizarre photo was taken by in the basement of Kith Haven Assisted Living in Flint, Michigan on November 23, 2012 by an employee who claims she saw the ghostly apparition with her own two eyes, grabbed her phone, and took this eerie picture.

At first this looks like a man on a mobility scooter, but on second glance it could be someone pushing a woman in a wheelchair with her arms folded, maybe a caretaker who is still on the job.

A Window to the Other Side?

I will let Judy, the woman whose son took this picture, do the talking to explain this image:

"My son lives in a remodeled Victorian home in downtown Ocean Springs, Mississippi. One night he was taking pictures of his friend using his iPhone - nothing out of the ordinary, my son just thought that it would make a good picture. In this picture, you can clearly see the head and shoulder of someone standing directly behind this young man to the right. In the second picture taken seconds after the first one (long enough for my son to turn his phone sideways), nothing was there. No one else was around, my son's friend didn't think anything of it. He took the picture and left. We didn't think anything more of it until we looked a little closer on a bigger screen. My son tells me there are a few more instances at his house that he could not explain: noises, footsteps, etc., which leads us to believe that someone wanted their picture taken also that night. I would really appreciate someone else's opinion."

So, what is the Moviepilot opinion on the weird image above?

The Face at the Window

Lu Ann submitted the strange photo above to the About Paranormal Photo Album with the following statement explaining the circumstances around the ghostly face, she explained:

I live in Ravenna, Ohio. In May of 2007, my son took a photograph of our home with a digital camera. What appeared in this photo is very disturbing: An image of what appears to be a child is clearly seen looking out of the window. Our home is a former parsonage and has a history of paranormal activity, which sometimes is very frightening. I was the only person in the house at the time the photo was taken, as my husband was in a nursing home recovering from brain surgery due to cancer

But do you believe this in an image of the spirit that is haunting Lu Ann's house?

Forth of July Phantom

Petra Brooks was taking photos of her granddaughter when a menacing shadowy figure mysteriously appeared in the shot. Read the exact circumstances that the photo was taken in below and see if you are convinced by Petra's account:

Last Friday evening, we were at the 4th of July (2014) fireworks at Fort Stewart, Georgia. We sat in a parking lot with just a few other people, only a few hundred feet away from Warrior's Walk, which is a place around the parade field that has hundreds of trees, each planted for a fallen soldier."I was snapping pictures of my granddaughter playing and running with the two young boys of the man in the light blue shirt. The pictures came out a little blurry because the kids were running and it was dusk, but when I went through to delete them, I came upon this shot!"My daughter-in-law was right next to me, watching me delete the shots and saw the figure the same time I did. I cropped it down and immediately shared it with the gentleman in light blue and the few other people with us in the parking lot. There was NO ONE walking past or standing there when I took the shot. How can I find out if this is truly a spirit I captured?

So, is the looming shadow man a spiritual presence or a stealthy passerby?

Shadow Man Lurks

Russell Fowler was reviewing his images from a day out at Edinburgh Castle when he noticed the figure of a shadowy presence in a hut in the background of one of his holiday snaps.

After initially thinking it was a patch of damp, he zoomed into the image and was shocked to see that the outline of the shadow doesn't follow the brickwork, ruling out that logical this really the oft-sighted 'shadow hat man' caught on camera?

Graveyard Apparition

Mr. Wade took this photo in Spice Valley Cemetery in Mitchell, Indiana, but he was shocked to see a freestanding misty apparition hovering above one of the gravestones.

The photographer rules out his own breath causing the ghostly form because it does not come in from the edge of the image, but does this really mean the eerie form could be a spirit?

Snatched Before His Time

This photo was submitted by Billy Egan, and if you look closely the translucent form of a small child seems to be standing on the wall behind the couple sharing an embrace, Billy explained:

This photo was taken in Scotland by some friends of my sister while they were touring an old castle. Look over the shoulder to the right of the people hugging. What do you think? Looks like a ghost of a small boy to me

The Unholy Trio

Kathy from Texas was driving with a friend when she unknowingly snapped these chilling white-faced, robe wearing ghostly figures, she wrote:

This picture was snapped while driving down a country road in East Texas. Look at the figures standing by the road through the car window. They seem to be dressed in black and their faces and hands are white. You can actually make out hands and clothing... you can tell two of the figures seem to be dressed in pants and the third figure seems to be wearing a long dress. Also, the bottom half of the figures looks transparent through the fence.

Could this be a genuine paranormal experience?
