So the Mad Max Game gameplay trailer was dropped upon an unsuspecting world, and to be honest, it doesn't actually look that bad. As we're all aware, games that come out alongside films are generally appalling. [Mad Max: Fury Road](tag:41445) looks like it'll be a tremendously great evening in the cinema, but now its tie-in game actually appears to be pretty cool too.

That being said though, I obviously have my reservations. The Mad Max game gets its release date for the XBOX One and PS4 on September 1st, therefore seeing a trailer of this length so far from launch is pretty unusual, and usually it's a bad sign. However, that being said, the gameplay seemed somewhat decent. Though even if the game is a success and a lot of fun to play, can it compete with having a release date on the same day as Hideo Kojima's much anticipated [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain](tag:2683985)?

The Mad Max Game & its Gameplay Trailer

First off, let's think about what was actually good concerning the Mad Max Game and its Gameplay trailer! Let's be fair, a great deal of its elements are pretty familiar in terms of the titles that Warner Brothers have published in the past. We can see the [Batman: Arkham Series](tag:2586475) in Max's combat for one thing, but we can also see the style of Avalanche Studios, particularly with how Max actually looks. I see a lot of Rico Rodriguez in this chap. Also, that kind of grapple gun moment with the car was straight out of Just Cause!

But obviously, one of the main focus points of the Mad Max game, will be its car combat. I couldn't help but think of id Software's lacklustre RAGE, which certainly did have some great driving mechanics, but was a pretty disappointing game overall. That being said, the quest to retrieve our car and regain our life, looks pretty gritty, and the option to make your own car at the outset is extremely appealing. We have hope for the Mad Max Game, here's hoping that it'll be as much of a surprise as Shadow of Mordor was! Could we see a Nexus system?!

The Mad Max Game vs Kojima's Metal Gear Solid 5 on Release Date

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is getting its long-awaited release date on September 1st, the same day as the Mad Max game. Actually, is anyone else worried about the complete disappearance of Hideo Kojima? Where is the man? Why is he not appearing at any public events? He didn't even turn up to the game awards in Japan last week where Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and the P.T. demo received awards. No one from Konami was there to pick them up either. Dicks.

But assuming that all is well with the actual game, Metal Gear Solid 5 will still get its release date this year. Therefore, poor Mad Max is going to have a very tough time competing with the final Metal Gear title directed by Hideo Kojima. Obviously we're a while away from the game's release, so dates may move. But if it does go ahead, we're going to see Warner Brothers launch a ridiculous campaign in order for the voice of the Mad Max game to be heard over Big Boss'.
