Thank you for taking the time out to speak with us. We hope your con is going well. We haven’t seen you since last year’s toy con.
Good seeing you again. It’s going good so far, been taking a lot of pictures with fans.
So what projects are you working on right now?
Ditch Party that I produced with Johnny Jimenez from the Toy Shack (From TV’s Pawn Stars). It’s an anti-bullying/teen suicide movie and it has a good positive message. Like if you don’t bully kids in school and that may help to possibly avoid a school shooting or teen suicide. So it’s a real heartfelt movie that I believe deals with a lot of issues that are going on today.
Being a latino actor yourself, what is the biggest obstacle that is keeping latino actors from getting lead starring roles in Hollywood films? I mean we have a few like Edward James Olmos, Jimmy Smits, Salma Hayek, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Zoe Saldana, Andy Garcia and Antonio Banderas; and there are many latino actors but none that headline or get top billing in Hollywood films.
We have to support each other. It has to be quality over quantity. To a certain extent it’s… well you know what; it’s like when I go to a black (actors) movie premiere I see black baseball players, basketball players, rappers, famous boxers, famous singers all at the movie premiere. But when it’s a latino movie premiere a lot of the time it’s just the people who were in that movie. So it’s just about supporting each other and being there for one another, and just knowing that there’s enough space for everybody in this business to make it a rise to the top together; as opposed to a single person.
Changing gears. With all of the great quotes and stories from the main cast of the Fast & Furious franchise, tell us, how was your experience working with Paul Walker in the movies?
Paul Walker was the friendliest, most humble dude around. He’d treat the janitor the same way he would the President. Nicest guy in the world man, didn’t treat anybody any different than anyone else. It was like working with a real friend. I had mad love and respect for Paul Walker, rest in peace. It’s just really unfortunate what happened to him.
