When I first saw the Avengers Age of Ultron trailer I was pumped. It looked different from any other Marvel movie we had ever had. Something dark. I mean who else didn't get chills when you heard "there are no strings on me". So when I finally got to see the Avengers I was excited about the possibility of a truly dark Villian, something we had not really seen yet in the MCU. But yet again I walked away from the theater feeling underwhelmed.
With the recent success of Daredevil and it's darker tone, I thought it would be no problem for Lord Whedon to come through clutch with another Villian as good as Loki. But to me it was the same old, repetitive thing. Bad guy, bad scheme, destroy world. I was ready for something different, something that wouldn't let me even blink in case I missed something vital, like I felt when I saw Captain America: Winter Soldier. So as the movie when on and as we got to the climax of the movie I kept waiting for that one moment when we were going to get that one fight. The battle reminiscent of Captain America vs. Bucky Barnes, or even Spock vs. Khan (Star Trek into Darkness). Trust me I wanted this movie to be great, and it was. But when are we going to get a Villian with no mercy, one that scares you just by looking at him, one that really will stop at nothing to cause pain and suffering to the Avengers. I mean who else thought it was just a little to easy to defeat Ultron?
So what do you think? What do you think about Spader's Ultron, forgettable or not? Or were my expectations to high? Remember just my opinion, don't let it stop you from watching a good showing from Marvel Studios.
