You know you're onto a good thing when you're casually doing your thing at your place of work, while superstar photographer Annie Liebovitz is hovering around taking monumental shots as you do what you do. Yeah, good thing may be a tad of an under exaggeration.
Take the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, who, from the 12th of May, will be once again having the immense honor of gracing the cover page of Vanity Fair in a wonderful and candid photoshoot helmed by the aforementioned Annie Liebovitz.
The cover image pulls together the old and the new guard of the Star Wars universe, with John Boyega (Finn), BB-8 (BB-8), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) looking comfortable, cute and suitably badass within the confines of the Millennium Falcon's rustic cockpit.
Use your eyes, traveler:
While this photoshoot is super awesome and rather poignant, the June issue will sit well in your boxes full with Star Wars paraphernalia and memorabilia, some behind the scenes footage of Liebovitz's iconic photoshoot affords us a closer look at other characters from TFA, and it also confirms the fact (we've all known for friggin' ages now) that Adam Driver is indeed playing Kylo Ren!
Come on, take a look for yourself:
Haven't the time to watch the vid? Well you're in luck!
Here's Episode VII's big bad, not looking particularly bad at all! I was expecting glowing red scars, and yellow eyes that emanate a strange and pulsating energy, but, alas, here's Adam Driver's handsome face being all handsome.
I wonder if that means anything for his character? If hiding behind his terrible mask, hides the fact that he may be the child of two very important characters...
For all of you who called it. Well done:
Lupita Nyong'o will be playing the space pirate Maz Kanata...
...a character forged of CGI, hence her fetching mocap suit and accessories.
How pivotal a part she'll play in TFA is, naturally, still a mystery...
...though rumor has it she will be the one who hands an important relic from the past to Rey and Finn, that basically offsets the new interstellar adventure.
And here's Kanata's motley crew of pirates chilling in her castle.
How's this for an iconic snap? Set to adorn the walls of adolescents for decades to come, Oscar Isaac's Dameron looks the purest of all badasses.
Here's Abrams and Ridley discussing a scene where Rey pilots her speeder through a bustling market on Jakku.
So what do you make of that?
It's all becoming realer and realer, isn't it? The fact that Star Wars is back. Two fantastic trailers and now a Liebovitz spread! This year is turning into the stuff of geek dreams.
December couldn't come any sooner!
