With filming on the next season of The Walking Dead beginning over the weekend, the cast and crew of the show have assembled in the state of Georgia, where the series is filmed. However, what should have been a time of celebration as the show goes into Season 6 has quickly turned soured due to the shocking arrest of one of the main cast members, Seth Gilliam a.k.a. Father Gabriel Stokes.
While Gilliam plays the ultra-religious priest, Father Gabriel, in The Walking Dead his behavior leading to his arrest was anything but pious. As viewers of the The Walking Dead will know, the character Father Gabriel harbored a dark secret regarding his actions at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, and this arrest might show a case of life imitating art.
The 46-year-old was pulled over by police in Peachtree City, GA early Sunday morning after officers clocked him at an absolutely insane 107 mph. However, after he was pulled over the police soon found something even more shocking: Gilliam was not only drunk, but also had a marijuana cigarette concealed in the arm rest.
After the Walking Dead star blew a .107 blood alcohol level, which is well above the legal limit of .08, he was arrested and charged with DUI, drug possession and speeding, and was taken to the Fayette County Jail. He was released after posting a $9,818 bond.
With such a serious charge coming at the very beginning of shooting for Season 6, Seth Gilliam may very well be taking a leaf from his character's book over the next few months and praying hard that his shocking actions don't bode a grisly end for Father Gabriel.
Season 6 of The Walking Dead will air in October while Season 1 of the new companion series Fear the Walking Dead premiers over summer.
