If this Mass Effect 4 plot leak is real, Bioware and EA must be losing it right now. However, seeing as this already happened with Dragon Age: Inquisition in the past, I'm sure they're not exactly that surprised. But the fact that we've seen this happen with the same company yet again makes the details that the redditor supposedly leaked appear more viable. This could actually be the structure of Mass Effect 4.
I'll give those that haven't seen the full extent of the leak a brief run through of what it entails. But for all of those that are aware of what this new game may hold, what do you think of Bioware's Mass Effect 4? Is this the kind of plot that you'd be happy with on the game's release date for the XBOX One & PS4?
Bioware's Mass Effect 4 Plot Leaked on Reddit?
So yes, on April 20th, a gamer, who claims to have been involved with various video game surveys in the past, released the entire survey he received from EA regarding Mass Effect 4. After publishing the content on the Mass Effect subreddit, he was quick to delete his account and vanish. He had time to respond to a few questions that doubted his authenticity, but from what a lot of publications can see, this has the potential to be totally legit.
Exciting stuff indeed, folks! Nothing can stay not-leaked on the internet anymore it seems. But what kind of details were we given then? What adventures will this post-Shepard plot contain for owners of an Xbox One and PS4? Let's take a brief look at the highlights of Mass Effect 4!
The Plot of Bioware's Mass Effect 4
So, as any sci-fi series has done in the past that wishes to distance itself from previous instalments in a franchise, Mass Effect 4 is apparently travelling extremely far from the events of the ME trilogy. Bioware has already stated that they want players to be able to hop into Mass Effect 4 without feeling the pressure of playing the trilogy, so this is a perfect way to ensure that happens smoothly! But this means that our ME trilogy saves may have little to no effect.
Here's an excerpt describing the potential plot of Mass Effect 4 on its release date:
"The next Mass Effect game takes place in the Helius Cluster (a cluster of 100s of solar systems in the Andromeda Galaxy), far removed by time and space from Commander Shepard’s heroic acts and the final events of the Mass Effect trilogy. You are a pathfinder, a combat trained but un-tested explorer leading an expedition into the Helius cluster to establish a new home for humanity.
As you explore this sprawling series of solar systems (over 4x the size of Mass Effect 3), collecting resources and building colonies, you will encounter the savagery of untamed lands in the form of cut-throat outlaws and warring alien races."
"To survive and colonize the wild reaches of space, you will need to grow your arsenal, your ship, your crew and make strategic (and often uneasy) alliances to fight against increasingly menacing foes. Along the way, you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy.
As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity."
Sounds pretty awesome, but also...kinda familiar. It sounds pretty close to the original Mass Effect series in many ways, which is a good thing in some respects, but I wish that a different formula could have been attempted. This just sounds a little too close to the plot of the Reapers for me.
On top of this news, we also have increased exploration, the Mako is returning, exploration sounds similar to that of the original Mass Effect with obvious advancements in place. We've got loyalty missions, with even the name of one of the potential partners in it, Drak! He's a Krogan and the way that the missions work sound very similar to Mass Effect 2.
We also have strike missions, which allow us to send out people in our group to go and complete innocuous missions and bring back items and increase our experience. BUT you can also play these randomly generated missions yourself in multiplayer, which actually does sound pretty cool!
So what do you think Mass Effect fans? If this is the setup of Mass Effect 4, are you pleased with what Bioware are doing with the game? Are you still excited for its release date with this info? Let us know if you think the leak is real in the comments below!
