If you're reading this, that probably means that you're caught up on Once Upon a Time and know who the author is. And if you're anything like me, you think he needs to go.
No he doesn't need to die, but he clearly can't be the author anymore. The sorcerer's apprentice should've taken that right away from him long ago, when he changed Cruella's story. But they probably didn't have someone to take up the mantle then.
As we know, there have been many authors throughout time recording the stories of those within the magical world. All of them have done their job the way they needed to. And now we've got this jerk face who does whatever he wants and changes anyone's stories. Clearly, he doesn't deserve to have the power that comes with that pen anymore.
Okay, I get it. It the author isn't a villain or even slightly evil, we wouldn't have a story. I get that. Really, I do. But like almost every villain that has come through these parts, they either die, or renounce their evil ways. I don't think, after all the damage that the author has done or is about to do in the season finale, any renouncing of all things evil will solve this problem. So, that leaves one option: he'll die.
So the mantle will be passed on. This will solve the issue of who the author is, but will not solve the anger that comes from Rumpelstiltskin. So, here's my solution:
The Author will die, and Henry will take over
Here me out, okay.
The next episode is a two-hour long season finale in which our current author gives all the villains their supposed happy endings. In turn, it also turns all our heroes into villains. Well, not all of them, probably. Snow, however, does turn to the dark side. In the promos for the next episode, we see a good Regina, an evil Snow White, a knighted Rumpelstiltskin, a crazed Emma, an enslaved David, a dueling Hook, and a seemingly normal Henry.
Check it out for yourselves:
There's not much to go off of here, but there's enough to get a vague idea of what happened to these people.
The one thing that stood out to me the most is how normal Henry still looks. Which kind of means he's our only hope in saving everyone. He's probably the only one who retained any memories of Storybrooke.
Which makes me ecstatic because he doesn't get enough screen time or awesomeness to himself. As I've mentioned in another article, it bothers me to no end that Henry has no magical powers. Becoming the author gives him the power he deserves especially in such an awesomely magical family.
Have you met anyone as genuinely nice as this kid? I mean really. He gives Snow White's purity a run for its money.
After the last Author, the sorcerer and his apprentice aren't going to let the title fall to just anyone. No, they're going to want someone who's going to make the right choices and do the right thing. Someone who'll actually follow the rules. Someone who loves reading about the stories just as much as he does writing about them.
Henry is the obvious choice.
He's one of the only characters who's a great person and doesn't yet have an established role within the world of Once Upon a Time. Okay, yeah, he does have the heart of the truest believer, but that only makes him an even better candidate for the job.
They're going to need someone to be the next author pretty soon, someone to put things back the way they were, and Henry is the best choice.
