[Spoiler Alert] Please stop reading if you have not watched Marvels Avengers: Age of Ultron!

It was no secret that someone had to perish during Avengers: Age of Ultron, the real question was, who was going to meet their unfortunate end? Some seemed to think that Hawkeye was a prime contender, since his private life was explored throughout the film. Others believed War Machine would get blasted out of the sky. But alas, neither character died, the character that passed away was none other than Avenger newbie, Quicksilver.

Quicksilver died while heroically saving fellow Avenger, Hawkeye, from a barrage of bullets. It seemed interesting to kill off a new character so early on, but that wasn't always the intention. Somewhere in the works, there was an outcome in which Quicksilver is alive and well.

You didn't see that coming?

During an interview with Empire, 'Age of Ultron' director, Joss Whedon, reveals that some scenes were filmed, where Quicksilver survived his fatal wounds, and joins Captain American and his New Avengers. While talking about Quicksilver, Whedon says:

“We did actually shoot him in the last scene, in an outfit, with his sister. We also shot him, waking up, saying, 'Ah, I didn’t really die from these 47 bullet wounds!' Actually, we shot something else with that, but... maybe I’ll let you know about that later. But the intent was to earn this, and then you have to stand by it.”

It would have been nice to see Quicksilver join his sister, Scarlet Witch, alongside War Machine, Vision, and Falcon during that last scene, but we don't always get what we want, that includes the director.

Whedon wished for two other characters to join Captain America's New Avengers, but they weren't allowed on the team at the time? Which characters? Spider-man, and Captain Marvel. While talking to Empire, Whedon says:

“I would have put both [Spider-Man and Captain Marvel] in, but neither of the deals were made. And then they were like, ‘We’re making a Captain Marvel movie and we’ve got ‘Spider-Man’ as a property,’ and I’m like, ‘I’ve already locked my film you fuckers! Thanks for nothing.”

It seems logical that neither Spider-Man or Captain Marvel were included in the film, considering neither character has been cast, but it would have been a rather nice surprise.

Are you sad that they killed off Quicksilver? Do you wish he survived? What about Spider-man and Captain Marvel? Do you wish they were included in the film? Let us know in the comments below!!
