What is your favorite TV show? That is a common question that everyone gets asked at least a dozen times in their life. Sometimes this question is even used as a security measure for gaining access into your personal accounts online. But what makes a good TV show? Is it the actors; the story-line; or is it because somewhere, deep down inside, you want to be the characters?
In my opinion, a great TV show includes all of these things and more. It’s knowing that, within just one episode, you can feel every emotion under the sun; in a 45 minute time period you can feel happy, sad, angry, joyful, envious, loved and yet at the end, you still beg for more. So, why do we do it? Why do we put ourselves through all of that?
I think we do it because it gives us a sense of hope that even in this messed up world, we can still be whoever we want to be and follow our dreams. Which leads me to my favorite TV show: One Tree Hill. Yes, it is a semi-corny teen drama but I have learned more about life and about myself from this show than I have from all of the other experiences in my life. Among the numerous things OTH has taught me, a major one is to always follow your dreams and never give up. I’m only twenty years old and I’m not certain that I have found my dream quite yet but I know that when I do find it, nothing will stand in my way and as long as I work hard and never give up, I can achieve that goal.
