It's a Bird, it's a Plane, it's a Series Pickup for Supergirl!

Supergirl has landed a series order at CBS for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.

Arrow and The Flash executive producer, Greg Berlanti, is executive producing the show, along with Andrew Kreisberg (The Flash and Arrow), Sarah Schechter (The Mysteries of Laura and Pan), and Ali Adler (The New Normal).

Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) escaped her home planet Krypton amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Supergirl will star Melissa Benoist (Glee) as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Alura Zor-El, Mehcad Brooks (True Blood) as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) as Alexandra "Alex" Danvers, David Harewood (Homeland) as Hank Henshaw and Dean Cain (Lois & Clark) and Helen Slater (Supergirl) as, at the moment, unannounced characters.

No word yet where on the schedule the show will air, more announcements will come when CBS holds their annual upfront presentation next week.

While Supergirl will be airing on CBS, The CW’s parent network, Greg Berlanti has previously stated that Supergirl WILL exist in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash, which would hopefully mean some epic crossovers in the future!
