The end of one of the best portrayals of a comic book character of all time. Hugh Jackman officially announced the next Wolverine movie will be his last. While a guest on DR. OZ's show, Hugh Jackman said the following as reported by Comic Book.com.
“It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.
“I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
The X-Universe will step into a whole new realm once Wolverine 3 comes and goes. There is unquestionably a huge debate coming on whether there should be a replacement to fill the role of one of the most popular Marvel characters in history, or let him follow the fate that befell the comic character when they killed off Wolverine.
Sacrificing his life by being drenched in the metal that made him invincible-Logan saved a group of soldiers experimented on to create a more deadlier weapon. His final moments was one of the most touching deaths ever for a Marvel Superhero. Will the next Wolverine movie point toward his death as well?
Hugh Jackman leaves the movie history making role still in prime shape, still capable of playing this role for years to come. Whether he'll be in the next X-Men movie is still up in the air, since his timeline places him in the hands of Stryker. Regardless, his run will be the stuff of legend, joining the likes of Christopher Reeve and Christian Bale as actors who have successfully defined iconic superhero characters.
If they decide to find another actor brave enough to pop the claws, it won't be anytime soon. Obviously Marvel wants the movie rights for Wolverine back from FOX, who now have one hell of a decision to make for the future of the Wolverine franchise; and the X-Franchise as a whole.
