In January we learned that The CW, home of some of the best young adult dramas on TV, renewed a whopping 8 of their series for their 2015–2016 TV seasons, including Arrow, Jane The Virgin and Supernatural (for an incredible eleventh season!). That's some dedication!
The next show to be thrown a 1-UP mushroom by the channel was the surprisingly entertaining Vertigo comic adaptation iZombie, helmed by showrunner and creator of Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas.
iZombie follows the exploits of Olivia "Liv" Moore (Rose McIvor) who was a brilliant and promising doctor, before being turned into a zombie at a party. Which I can imagine messes up a lot of plans. Tossing her career and fiancee aside for brains, Liv moonlights in a Seattle coroner's office, controlling her hunger for brains by chowing down on the chilled meats of the dead.
But, here's the sweet twist, with every brain she eats, Liv absorbs the memories of the cadaver. So, she becomes a faux-detective, assisting the police with her "psychic" insights into various life ending events.
It's cool, fun and well deserved of the renewal, raking in good numbers despite The Flash's freshman season eating up the majority of the channel's viewership. Good to have you around, Liv!
