There has long been an important question drifting about the X-men fandom: when will Dr. Charles Xavier lose the hair? Well, at long last, despite donning long luxurious brown locks in both X-Men: First Class and [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](tag:203942), we finally have an answer! Ladies and gentleman, thanks to director Bryan Singer's much-appreciated instagram post, I'd like to introduce to you the new, improved, and freshly shaven Dr. Xavier!

After losing his legs in First Class and embracing his iconic wheelchair in Days of Future Past, it's about time Professor X shows off a smooth head! Maybe his telepathic powers will be all the more potent now that his hair is no longer in the way! What will be most interesting to see is how the young Xavier will loose his hair in the first place...

So far, the current X-Men franchise has veered away from the comic source material when comes to certain events and details. For instance, in the comics, an alien scout named Lucifer crippled Xavier by crushing his legs with a boulder. However, in First Class, his legs become permanently paralyzed by a ricocheted bullet originally meant to save him.

Now, back to the hair (or lack there of). The comic version of events state that Charles Xavier experiences premature baldness by the end of high school as a side effect of his mutation. Although McAvoy portrays a much younger version of Professor X than we're used to, the latest version of the psychic mutant is still much too old to justify the comics' explanation.

I don't know about you, but now I'm all the more excited for the release of [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267)! The third installment in the current X-Men franchise takes place in the 1980s, which is approximately 20 years after First Class and 10 years after Days of Future Past. But the bad news is that we'll have to wait until May 27, 2016! Not to worry though! The film is definitely worth the wait. It's going to be featuring the most exciting haircut of the year, after all...
