It has been 22 years since the ABC mini-series starring John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Tim Reid, Annette O'Toole, Richard Thomas and of course, Tim Curry as the terrifying Pennywise was released. Since the announcement that Warner Bros purchased rights to IT back in 2009, the internet has been a buzz with anticipation of the new Pennywise. The natural thing would have been to dip into the vast pool of talented, young horror actors, but they did not, instead, they went with an actor more versed in comedy and action, Will Poulter.

Poulter has been the only cast announcement thus far, but who is Will Poulter? His breakthrough role was in 2007 as Lee Carter in Son of Rambow. Most recently, comedy fans may recognize him from his role as Kenny in the 2013 film We're the Millers starring alongside Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis and Emma Roberts. Younger fans will remember him from the 2014 film adaptation of the novel The Maze Runner in which he played Gally.

The 22-year-old from London, England has a heavy background in comedy, kind of like another big name in horror, Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009). Poulter starred in School of Comedy which began airing on Channel 4's Comedy Lab on October 2, 2009. The show was canceled after the second season. The majority of the roles on his resume are in comedy films. It has been said that the funniest people are the ones that have experienced the true horrors in life, so perhaps Poulter has some dark energy waiting to bubble to the surface.

There is absolutely no replacing Tim Curry, he was born to be Pennywise, but Poulter has the talent to do him proud in filling his enormous shoes.

Did I mention his awesome laugh?

Perfect for Pennywise, don't you think?
